Virgin of the Miracles
Almaguer, Colombia (1619)
On October 18, 1619 a very simple woman and devotee of the Virgin found a rustic old thin tablet in the church of Almaguer, with a striking image of The Virgin Milagros. Since then almguerenos devotees celebrate their patron’s favors.
Another event attributed to La Milagrosa, was that the image remained intact despite the onslaught of guerrilla in March 2000 against the small village of Almaguer, where the rebels raided the Catholic Church, dynamited the altar, and destroyed the whole church, the rectory and dozens of homes in the village.
