Virgin of the Miracle
Ruesga, Spain (14th c.)
The origin of this celebration is at the chestnut forest along the river called Vegacorredor. Towards midnight, when some soldiers were making a pilgrimage, the Virgin of the Miracle was seen along the river surrounded by tongues of fire. She approached them and they fled.
The next day, people filled with joy at the news started to come to place where the ashes were still smoldering, and found a large copper cauldron.
Since then, every year on September 3rd in that field, the custom is celebrated of having a pilgrimage \called the “Milagruco”, which goes throughout the neighborhoods with family groups participating.
