Virgin of the Helpless
Valencia, Spain (1407)
In the year 1414 four young men, dressed as pilgrims, came to the brotherhood. The brothers were told that in two days they could make an image of the Virgin if they were given a place and food. They were taken to the place known as La Ermita.
After four days of silence, they forced open the door and found the image of the Virgin Mary. Miracles started to occur. The incident gave rise to the legend that the angels created it.
On April 21, 1885, Pope Leo XIII granted a Papal Bull naming the Virgin of the Helpless as the patroness of Valencia.
On October 15, 1921, Pope Benedict XV granted the privilege for the coronation.
