Trinity Sunday

May 26, 2024

Trinitatis, derived from the Latin word: trinitas, or Trinity Sunday, is the ecclesiastical name for the Sunday after Pentecost. The Holy Trinity, Trinity or Trinity is the theological view in many branches of Christianity that there is one God in three divine persons.

It was Pope John XXII (1316-1334) who decreed that the feast of the Holy Trinity should be celebrated throughout the Church on the first Sunday after Pentecost.

Trinity: Father, Son and Holy Spirit

Like Islam and Judaism, the Christian faith is monotheistic: the belief in one supreme being. Christians have one God and not three. However, God reveals himself to people in three different ways. This is indicated by Trinity, or Triune God:
- God the Father
- God the Son (Jesus Christ)
- God the Holy Spirit
