Our Lady of Valfleury

France (800)

There was an ancient chapel dedicated to the Virgin near a healing spring. Our Lady of Valfleury was discovered, on Christmas Eve, shortly before the year 800. A shepherd saw blooming blossoms in the middle of a snow field. Having moved the branches, he found the statue of the Virgin seated, holding her child on her lap. The priest carried it into the church, and the next day she was found back in the bush where they erected a chapel.

Benedictine monks established a priory there and called the place “valley flowers”.
Miracles began to take place and pilgrimages followed.
