Our Lady of the Snow
Adro Italy (1519)
On July 8, 1519, the Virgin appeared asking a deaf mute to build a church in her honor and make amends for his sins. Miraculously he spoke. The people of Adro had to build a church at the place of occurrence, change their sinful ways, sanctify the holidays, not blaspheme the holy name of God and refrain from other sins.
The central feast of Our Ladymof the Snows is celebrated on August 5.
In the first half century, immediately after the occurrence, she was not called “Virgen de las Nieves”, but instead “Madonna della Cava,” the place where the Virgin had appeared to the shepherd, and the feast was celebrated on July 8, the anniversary of the occurrence.
