Our Lady of the Miracles 2

Milano, Italy (1485)
The miraculous appearance, which was confirmed by the rigorous investigation of the ecclesiastical canon, was a sign of special favor from the Madonna, in what was a very sad year due to the spread of plague. By the will of the city authorities and the entire people a shrine was erected worthy of the protectress of Milan, called by the people, “Our Lady of Miracles.”
The Sanctuary of San Celso became the center of devotion of the Milanese to Our Lady. When in 1576 the plague struck Milan again, a solemn procession was undertaken to implore the Comforter of the afflicted to bless them with her powerful maternal intercession to end the terrible scourge.
