Our Lady of the Hill
Lenola, Italy (1602)
On the hill of Lenola in 250, a shrine had been built with an image of the Madonna \and Child where Roman soldiers discovered and \killed Christians in hiding.
On the night of September 15, 1602 Gabriel Mattei who was selected by two troublemaker friends to carry out a murder, witnessed a radiant light appearing around the image accompanied by a heavenly voice asking him to build a shrine. When Gabriel showed his friends the image, blood began dripping from her lower lip. The bishop approved the miracle and the first stone was laid on May 7, 1607 and by 1610, the Sanctuary now called the “Madonna del Colle” was opened to the veneration of the faithful.
