Our Lady of Didinia

Turkey (363)
Legend says that it was before this shrine of Our Lady of Didinia that Saint Basil had begged the Blessed Virgin to remedy the persecution of Christianity being caused by Julian the Apostate.
After three days of prayer and fasting, Basil had a vision in which he saw Mary surrounded by celestial soldiery and heard her say: “Go call Mercury to me. He shall kill the blasphemer of my Son.”
He went to the shrine of St Mercurius whose sword was first missing and then returned covered in blood.
Julian had died on campaign in Persia, from a spear that had pierced his liver and intestines, suffering a major hemorrhage from the wound which killed him.
